Nexus devices are the first ones to receive Android updates timely, other manufacturers like Samsung and Sony update their devices not so timely but they will do at some point. Some manufacturers just don’t care about their devices, once it is released they will forget about that, Micromax ranks first in that class. But surprisingly Micromax is updating the Android version of it’s popular A110 Canvas 2 device, it will receive Android Jelly Bean update as early as next week.
This is a good news for many A110 Canvas 2 owners who are not sure if they receive updates or not. The update is not over-the-air (OTA) update, instead users have to visit Micromax service centers to update their phones. Visiting Micromax service centers to get update shows the lack of vision on Micromax part, who knows where are these service centers located. Micromax might have given the opportunity to download the update through PCs at least.
“This will not be an OTA update. Users will have to go to Micromax-authorised service centres to get the update. Currently, we are conducting tests (on the Jelly Bean ROM) and will be releasing the update by early next week latest.”
Micromax will also update it’s latest Android smartphone A116 Canvas HD to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean at some point in the future.
