Add the directories you want to search for duplicate files and then select masks if you want to search for specific file types only (mp3 or Jpeg) and start searching for files. It offers options to protect system folders and other system files so that you won’t delete system files by mistake.
Search is fast and finds duplicate files quite accurately. It will show you all the files it found in the lower pane of the easy duplicate file finder. The duplicate files it founds are organized in groups of duplicates, so you can select which ones you want to delete. You can delete all the selected files, or rename them to identify or you can move them to another folder.
It searches files for the same content, does full binary byte to byte comparison. You can add multiple directories at once for searching. Allows you to move files to recycle bin or delete it permanently. Also check out clonespy.
Although it works great there is one shortcoming of this app, it won’t be able to find the original and the duplicate file, so be sure to check files before you mass delete them.
Easy duplicate file finder is a freeware and available for Window 2000/Windows Xp and Vista, there is a seperate version for Wind 9X systems (95.98/Me). There is also a portable version for those who prefer not to install every single app.
