Windows 8 Blue to Bring Back Start Button and Boot to Desktop

The biggest complaint users had since the launch of Windows 8 is the lack of start button in the OS and the ability to boot into the desktop instead of Metro start screen. For some users the lack of Start button itself is very confusing and they are most vocal about Windows 8 for this issue. All this while Microsoft didn’t bother to address these issues. In the mean time several programs came up to the rescue by offering solutions to bring back the start button. But the situation might change in the future according to reports, Microsoft is finally thinking to bring back the start button and allow users to boot directly to desktop skipping Metro start screen.

Windows-Blue-Leaked-11

Mary Jo Foley at ZDNet reports that in some forums it is reported that Microsoft might be moving towards allowing users to skip Metro start menu and directly boot into desktop. In the upcoming Windows 8 release called “Blue”, might be Windows 8.1, these changes are likely to be implemented according to her sources.

Although this is not 100 percent sure and might change at a later time, “until it ships” anything can change. Microsoft might address the two issues or one of it with the Windows Blue release. That we will only know when it reaches the preview stage. Windows Blue preview is expected to be released in June this year with a release to manufacturing scheduled for August 2013.
