Amazon Android Appstore to Expand to 200 Countries

Amazon has announced that it’s Android App Store is expanding world wide with launch in 200 countries. Amazon App Store was launched initially in US and then expanded to Europe and Japan later in 2012. This is the first time Amazon App Store is launching to several countries at once, the list includes Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India, South Africa and South Korea.

Developers can now submit their apps to be sold in all those 200 countries around the world. The Apps that are submitted to Android will be available in those countries in the coming months according to Amazon. Developers who already have apps in the app store will have to do nothing as they will be automatically included in the new countries list. Amazon did not provide specific dates for the launch in specific countries, but we are guessing it might take few weeks to few months before the app store is fully active in those countries.

“Amazon’s platform is a complete end-to-end solution for developers wanting to build, market and monetize their apps and games on Kindle Fire and Android devices,” said Mike George, Vice President of Apps and Games at Amazon. “Allowing developers to target distribution of their apps and games in even more international countries is yet another important milestone as we strive to serve consumers and developers globally. Many of our existing developers have localized their apps and games for international consumers, and we look forward to working with new developers that have been waiting to bring their apps to more Amazon customers across the globe.”

The Amazon app store can be accessed from any Android device after installing the app. The app store launch will greatly benefit Amazon for marketing it’s Kindle Fire tablets and it might also launch these tablets in some of these countries where previously they are not available.
