Twitter #Music App is Now Live for iPhone and Web

Twitter has finally released its music streaming and discovery app #music app to the public. It allows users to post and listen to embedded tracks from huge collection of iTunes, Spotify and Rdio. Starting today iPhone users can download the app from the app store and enjoy the music, and Android version is expected soon though. But the web version is live and can be used by anyone. The #music app is currently available in Us, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Other countries will be added to the service list gradually according to Twitter.

Twitter is sourcing tracks for the service from iTunes, Spotify and Rdio, music previews are powered by iTunes, users can buy these tracks on iTunes and users of Spotify and Rdio can listen to full tracks by logging into those services.

Twitter and music go great together. People share and discover new songs and albums every day. Many of the most-followed accounts on Twitter are musicians, and half of all users follow at least one musician. This is why artists turn to Twitter first to connect with their fans — and why we wanted to find a way to surface songs people are tweeting about.

You can see what tracks your followers are tweeting by going to the #NowPlaying section. You can listen to these tracks as an iTunes preview, you can also tweet the tracks using the compose button along side the spinning disc. You can also see the popular tracks, emerging music and also tracks artists you follow. If you want to see tracks from certain artists you can search for them in the app itself.

Twitter made #music as a separate app from the main twitter app and you need to login to use the service.
