SkyDrive app for iOS now auto uploads photos to cloud

SkyDrive iOS app was first introduced 2 years back and since then millions of iOS users use SkyDrive regularly to store, and share photos worldwide according to Microsoft. If you are a iOS user and use SkyDrive app, store and share photos then here is a good news for you. The updated SkyDrive app now allows users to auto upload photos and videos you took with your iPhone and iPad.

The functionality is already available for Windows Phone and the update iOS is to bring that functionality to other devices as well. The update also includes improved editing and viewing in Office Mobile, and OneNote integration.

The camera backup feature allows users to auto upload photos and videos they have taken using their iPhone. The photos uploaded to SkyDrive will be available on your Windows PC or tablet. You can control how to do this, you can allows this only on Wi-Fi or also on your cellular data network. You can also upload the photos in their original resolution or downsize them for better space utilization.

With this update now when you open SkyDrive stored doc while using Office Mobile, it directly opens in Office Mobile or OneNote instead of Quicklook viewer that is there today. Microsoft says this is the most requested feature from users of Office Mobile.

The SkyDrive app also updated to match the iOS 7 look with bigger thumbnails for photos to start with. SkyDrive also got some improvements to Facebook sharing, when  you share a photo or multiple photos from SkyDrive to Facebook you can now select how it appears on Facebook. For example if you are sharing multiple photos, you can create anew album and set permissions to it within the SkyDrive app.
