Yahoo is testing new home pages for quite some time, these new home pages are not enabled for all Yahoo user, but only a small percentage of users will see these designs. There are two variations of the new Yahoo designs, one that is released in Sep 2008 and the other that is released in May 2009.
Update: Now there is a link at the bottom of the page that reads “back to yahoo classic”, thats it. Thanks for the tip Britaney.
Both the new designs offer clean interface and some customization to add apps, social activities etc. But some users really hate these new home pages.
How to get back your old Yahoo home page
Delete the cookies, delete cache, files and restart your browser. That’s all you need to do to get back your old Yahoo home page. If you are using IE go to Internet Options and delete browsing history that will erase, history, cookies, temporary internet files etc. If you are using Firefox go to Tools > Options > Privacy tab, click settings in Private Data and set what ever you want to remove and save, then clear private data. If this doesn’t help check here for instructions to use another method.

I find this new redesigned Yahoo very difficult and it makes me want to change my homepage to Google.(Yuk!) But I want the old homepage back. I have tried to update my profile and NONE of the encrypted passwords are working. Are they case sensitive? I have tried them both ways and over and over again I am unsuccessful. I have had you for an email server and homepage for over 25 years and it would be a shame to change because the page has become so user UN-friendly. I have studied the new site and I can find many cons and few pros.
Is there no way to get my old homepage back? You even have my age WRONG.

FEW WAYS TO RESTORE GOOD OLD YAHOO HOME-PAGE
Method 1. Click on the link “Return to Classic Yahoo.com†at the bottom right corner of the new Yahoo homepage.
Method 2. Set as your homepage (in Tools -> Internet Options). This way, you may not have to do anything else, until yahoo gets rid of the Classic.
Method 3. Clear the Cookies (or Browsing History) in your internet browser program. (Technically, you only need to remove any cookies from yahoo.com, if you know how to do that). Remember that deleting Cookies will require you to re-login to websites that previously “remembered†your username & password. Advanced users may just block cookies from m.www.yahoo.com

Sometimes “OLD” is better…In this case “OLD” is always better. Why fix something that isn’t broken. I really hate it when these corporate giants start to infringe on something that you are accustomed to using and force you to use what they want you to use. What they should do is everytime a user “LOGS IN” they should be able to have the option to view classic or new. Please give people these options. I have been a loyal Yahoo customer for a long time. I can’t believe how much time I’ve wasted trying to get around the forced re-route to your terrible new home page. I tried the new one for several days (thinking maybe I could get used to it) and I absolutely despise it.
Nothing is easy to get at, I can’t see a mail preview (in condensed mode), I hate seeing “Popular Searches” right up front (who cares?), re-sorting of Favorites doesn’t work, you can’t move widgets, etc., etc., etc.
Why would you do this to your customers? A user’s homepage is a CRITICAL function of their everyday web usage.
I hope you decide to change it back. The user friendly-ness of your old home page is the #1 reason I have not been a Google customer.

I use yahoo has my home page but I want to SIGN in every time, not have it automatically open my mailbox to anyone who happens to use my computer! I also don’t trust it because it opens my yahoo page first and I am afraid to go to any secure sites like bank or insurance sites anymore because I feel that I can be hacked if someone follows me off my e-mail page and everyone knows that e-mail isn’t secure at all and never has been. I just noticed that you can make the home page “Return to Classic Yahoo.com”. Not sure if it “sticks” as I haven’t tested it long enough. Hopefully it sets a cookie.
At the bottom of the NEW (hateful) Home Page, on the lower right, under “About Yahoo!” is a link: “Return to Classic Yahoo.com”.

Please give me my old home pages back. Don’t tell me about having to do all kinds of things,like something about ‘cookies’.. I don’t even know what that is. You have tried this before and people keep telling you to leave things alone. How many times do you need to hear it before you do it again? The majority rules but you don’t get it. maybe you need to get out of the business if you can’t please the majority.

I also hate the new website, why do so many people have to complain and still not get it changed back. This is a disgrace to not be able to get the old yahoo website page back. I alwas thought Yahoo was a better business than it is showing it’s customers, apparently you don’t care anymore, this makes yahoo look bad, I also agree if something isn’t done soon I will also choose another website. The old one can be brought back though. When the new yahoo aka http://www.m.yahoo.com appears as your new home page, just scroll down to the bottom right hand corner under “about yahoo” and there is a link to return to “yahoo classic”
However, with cash being the driving force of this new home page, I am betting this option disappears soon, and I when it does, so will I.

set your computer to go directly to your yahoo mail or your home page and bypass yahoos new home page.set your computer to msn or google as a front page.with a mail address on your desktop you dont have to use yahoo’s crappy new front page. this works with apple also . i have a g4 book/and an dell 1501 and a compaq desk top .if you dont like there new page let them know by bypassing it because you really dont need it for your mail and the other companys home pages are good .

m yahoo page. clean the ssl slate and allthe temp files ALL OF THEM!!

The new yahoo! home page looks childish and poorly organized.
I don’t like the way that giant purple box covers up what I’m reading until I ‘x’ it to make it go away. If this new page is forced on us on Nov. 11 as threatened, we’ll probably move to google or somewhere else. I hate the constant changes on the yahoo homepage. I am going to end up having to change it to another homepage because it is so annoying! When I sign in, I don’t even know how to get to my email anymore. I can’t even see how it is any better when all it does is annoy users. I want to be able to change back to my old homepage….I do NOT have a link at the bottom or anywhere else on the page for that matter to switch back. They had that before and now it’s no longer available.

on the new front page / switch to the narrow layout /its almost the same as the old page and those big ugly popups arent there /you may like it/good luck this is what i did.
The new yahoo page is the most annoying work of clutter I’ve ever seen. There are 5000 things going on, on what should be a simple, user friendly home page. Everytime you scroll along one of those lame categories on the lft, a massive spam-like popup window gobbles up 3/4 of your screen. How annoying. I can see why this turd company is losing market share to Google. They’ve lost me and millions of others who will now be forced to switch to Google.

If you have a ‘favorites’ toolbar you can use it to link directly to yahoo news, mail, sports, or whatever without having to visit the homepage at all. It has worked well for me. I also have google on there for when I need a search engine so I never have to be bothered cuz I really hate those rollover pop up ads too.

I agree that the Classic Mail is much better. I have also had a hard time downloading the new program for the attachments. I have tried attaching my resume since Thursday and keep getting an error msg.

At the top of the page it says there is a link at the bottom of this page to get back to Classic. Like hell there is.
If you go to your inbox, at the upper right, click on options, and you can return to the old yahoo inbox.
