Windows Live Translator Beta From Microsoft

Windows Live Translator is a new beta service from Microsoft for automatic machine translation of text and web pages. The tool lets you translate text from English to German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian, and vice versa for some languages.

The service is similar to Google Translator, Using this tool you can either translate 500 words of text or an entire web page. Microsoft uses Systran translation technology which powers Google translation also, for computer related topics Microsoft uses its own translation technology used in in-house projects like MSDN Library. You can select the check box below the text input box to use Microsoft technology for computer related topics.

When you translate text or webpages the default view is two pane where the original language and the translated one will display side by side. If you click on some text in one pane the same text in other pane will be automatically selected. This option is good for text but for webpages you have to scroll horizontally, alternatively you can select other views from the links provided on the top right.

Quality should be similar to Google translator because both tools are powered by the same technology, i checked some text but i am not able to conclude which one is better. [Via: Google Operating System]
