A Microblogging search engine from Google

Twitter made Microblogging more famous than any other and some folks gave up blogging for twittering. These twitter messages or micro blogs are rich source of valuable links, breaking news, and of course spam. Twitter acquired summize last year and launched as a twitter search engine.

Although twitter search works it is in no way a perfect search, the search results are not ranked by relevancy or authority, they are simply displayed in chronological order, and the results are restricted for few days.

Google OS is reporting that Google is preparing to launch a Microblog search engine which will index messages from microblogs like twitter and add relevancy rankings to them. Like Google Blog Search, Google’s Microblog search results will be integrated to Google’s web search engine.

The tip came from Google’s Localization service:

"Recent updates about QUERY. This is the MicroBlogsearch Universal result group header text. A Microblog is a blog with very short entries. Twitter is the popular service associated with this format."

The main problem with the twitter search is the amount of spam it has, look at any of the trending topics in twitter, people are using these topics to redirect users to their spam sites. If Google can distinguish good tweets from the spam ones this will succeed.
