Facebook Prototypes: Experimental Apps

Facebook is launching Prototypes, a list of experimental apps built by Facebook Engineers. Facebook Prototypes is similar to Google Labs from Google where experimental features are first being tested before launching for the public.

Prototypes are emerged from Facebook Engineers own projects, some time these kind of projects will end up in launching to all the users as new features and some may not be ready for prime time. These projects which are not ready for prime time have a new home now at Facebook Prototypes, from there you can add the ones you like.

Currently there are only five apps available, but in future we may find more apps. The current apps include Desktop Notifications for Mac, which alerts when some activity happens on your Facebook profile. Similar Posts is a one-click way to find similar posts from the homepage. Enhanced Event emails includes an iCal file as an attachment to your Event Invitation Emails for better integration with external calendar apps like Outlook and Google Calendar. Photo tag search application allows you to search for photos your Facebook friends are tagged in.
