Firefox 3.1 alpha 2 available for download

Mozilla has released Firefox 3.1 alpha 2 for developers and testers. This release introduces some new features like support HTML 5 video element, improved drag and drop tabs across windows and others.

The highly anticipated HTML 5 video element will enable developers to seamlessly embed in the web content, manipulate video playback with javascript. This will also allow resize, rotate and move video files while they are playing.

Firefox 3.0.1 supports tabs drag and drop feature but when you drag and drop the page reloads, with this release this has been fixed. On a similar note Google Chrome also supports tabs drag and drop between windows.

Other features include initial support for web worker threads, ability to make use of Aero “Glass” in XUL. Support for CSS 2.1 properties: ::before and ::after, and white-space:pre-line. Support for CSS 3 properties: -moz-border-image, word-wrap: break-word, text-shadow, box-shadow and column-rule. Performance improvements and new preference values for color management profile support

Firefox 3.1 is going to be an interesting release. You can download alpha 2 from here. Via Ars
