Gmail now searches inside attachments

If you are a Gmail user you will love this little feature, searching inside attachments. Google has finally added searching inside attachments like Word, PDF and PowerPoint files.

This feature is really useful for searching through old messages, you can always search if you know the file name or message text, without these it is difficult to see the attachments. Previously Gmail was able to search inside text and HTML documents, but now it can search for text inside office files like word and PDF.

For searching inside attachments use the operator has for example: “has:attachments keyword” this will bring up the attachments which contain your keyword inside. You can also use other search operators like “filetype:pdf” to restrict the search to only PDF file containing messages.
