Google Contributor will let users pay money to remove ads from websites

Google is testing a new program that will help web publishers to monetize their sites. The new program called Contributor will allow site visitors to pay a small subscription fee to participating websites to get rid of ads on their sites. Users who pay a monthly fee of $ 1 to $3 will not see Google ads on those sites, users will see a thank you message from the publisher along with a pixel pattern.

The Contributor program started with 10 publishers initially and will expand slowly to other interested web publishers. Those who are interested can join the waiting list to get invited to the program. Google will take small cut of the proceeds and gives the rest to the publishers. Users can select for which sites they want to contribute and once they paid for those site, they won’t see any Google ads on those sites. All this is linked through the Google Account of users.

Google calls this as an experiment for now, soon it will expand to other publishers. From web publishers point of view it adds another way for them to monetize their content. It also adds to the Google bottom line, and we can see it as a Google’s early experiment incase the online ad business will continue the downfall.
