Google launches Indoor Maps in India

Google has announced Indoor Maps for popular places in India. Google announced yesterday that Google users can now access 75 popular indoor venues across 22 cities in India. This is just the beginning and we hope to see many places added to Indoor Maps in the coming future.

Google Maps now hosts many popular mall floor plans in the country as part of the Indoor Maps project. According to Google the Indoor Maps automatically appear as when you zoom a particular place provided there is an Indoor map, they will fade away once you zoom-out of the place. Google has also added support for My Location feature indoors as well, previously it is only available outdoors. Using this feature Google can now show on which floor you are on a popular mall, suppose you go to a higher level on a building Google will update the floor plan to show you what is there in that floor. You can also get indoor walking directions to help you navigate the place more quickly.
