Livestation: Live Television and Radio

Livestation

Livestation beta is launched a few days ago focusing on News content initially (i mentioned it back in july). The service is currently in private beta and this is a technical release.

Livestation provides live streaming of television and Radio, Livestation is backed by Microsoft. Currently there are not many channels available but the quality of the streaming is good. All the channels are not available for everyone, it depends on where you are located.

The list of channels available for me include BBC World, BBC World Service, Al Jazeera (English), Bloomberg, Euro News (English & French), France 24 (English, France), i>Télé, Sky News and BBC Radio 4.

The quality of the streaming is good and there is no buffering, ofcourse i am using broadband. If you ever used Joost you know the controls and chat while watching TV, there are no controls in Livestation, its quite simple. But this is a pre-release you may see all those fancy things in the next release.

Livestation is bases on peer to peer technology and uses Microsoft Silverlight technology for its player. It is currently available for Windows XP, Vista, Mac version is under development.

If you are interested to try Livestation you can request an invitation from here.
