Google is developing tools to determine if ISPs are throttling broadband connections. Google is a big supporter of net netrality debate and this is no surprise they are developing these kind of tools to monitor ISPs manipulating the network connections.

“We’re trying to develop tools, software tools…that allow people to detect what’s happening with their broadband connections, so they can let [ISPs] know that they’re not happy with what they’re getting — that they think certain services are being tampered with,” Google senior policy director Richard Whitt said this morning during a panel discussion at Santa Clara University, an hour south of San Francisco.

Some ISPs based in US are known to do throttling for P2P users, these kind of tools will be useful for customers who wants see what is happening with their connection and how their ISP is behaving. It is not clear when these tools will be available for public. Via Hothardware, Slashdot
