Yahoo acquires visualization startup Vizify

Yahoo has acquired visualization startup Vizify for an undisclosed sum according to Vizify. Yahoo has been acquiring small companies in the social space from quite some time. This is 3tth acquisition for Yahoo since Marissa Mayer took charge of Yahoo. Vizify makes it easy for users to create visualizations out of their social media data, as of the acquisition it will not accept any new user registrations and will be closed for now. But the technology and team will integrate with Yahoo.

Vizify started in 2011 has attracted many users for its visualization platform, according to the team they are in talks with Yahoo from last summer for possible ways to increase the vale for Vizify. “Since last summer, we’ve been engaged in a conversation with some of the incredible folks at Yahoo about the ways this more visual approach to data can inspire and entertain. As our conversations progressed, we realized we’d found a partner who shared our passion for user experience, design, and visualizing information. Ultimately, we just couldn’t say no to the opportunity to bring our vision to the hundreds of millions of people who use Yahoo every day.”
