If Twitter is too much of noise for you and you always have had difficulty finding the right and latest information, Microplaza is no less than a wonder for us twitter addicts. Microplaza is a meme tracker which searches and tracks the latest and hot links revolving around twitter.
What is MicroPlaza?
Just like TechMeme tracks the internet, Microplaza is for Twitter. Although there are some meme trackers for twitter but none come close to Microplaza given its ease of use and extendibility.
It tracks the tweets from your twitter friends and the stories they link to. The more the story is linked, the more popular it becomes on MicroPlaza. The service is divided into public pages and personal timelines. On their public page, you can quickly scroll through the most popular links on Twitter and as the name goes, personal pages throw light on the hot stuff amongst your twitter friends.
All the popular links can be sorted by date or popularity and a thumbnail of the linked website is also generated on the left. You can see how many times the link has been retweeted or tweeted also have a glimpse of the people who shared it.
You can also browse published links by people you are following and browse through popular links that their friends are sharing. This very useful function is called ‘being someone’. So when you click somebody username in your friends list, you can see popular links that are being shared by his or her friends.
Just like you can create groups in TweetDeck to track tweets by a group of people, similarly, MicroPlaza gives us the option to create Tribes. This way you can categorize people in different tribes and track links and popular stuff easily.
With MicroPlaza, the practice of Retweeting on twitter has gained momentum. The more a link is retweeted, the higher it is rated on MicroPlaza. The service parses the short links such as tinyurls and tracks retweets for that link. If you use online bookmarking services such as Delicious, it brings more of that flavor to twitter by providing a bookmark feature.
All in all, MicroPlaza does the work of finding the best out of twitter very well. It is still in Private Beta and you can follow @microplaza do grab an invite as soon as they release it. Untill you get an invite, check out their public page for a view on how it works and the general hot stuff on twitter.
