Panasonic P51 Android smartphone launched for Rs. 26,990

Panasonic has entered the fast growing Indian smartphone market with P51 as the first smartphone in a series of launched expected this year. Panasonic is very ambitious about is plans in the Indian market, it  is aiming for 8 percent market share in the first year itself. It is dual SIM phone with Stylus included.

The Panasonic P51 is a 5-inch smartphone with IPS display at HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. It is a dual-SIM Android smartphone that runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-Coe Processor, the make if the CPU is not clear though. On the memory front it has 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal memory. It also comes with a micro SD slot for expanding the internal memory upto 32GB.

Other specifications of the P51 include an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and flash, a 1.3MP front camera for video calls. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, micro USB.

Speaking on the launch, Mr. Daizo Ito, President, Panasonic India said, “Panasonic has a great legacy of being the pioneers of innovation in every segment. Continuing with our legacy, we are now launching our innovative smart-phone which will redefine the Indian smart-phone consumer experience. India has always been one of our alpha markets in the region and I take great pride in introducing our smart-phone to India. We are confident that our product will provide the Indian consumer a great multimedia experience and the ‘best value for money’ proposition”.

P51 is the first in a series of smartphones from Panasonic ranging from basic to high end smartphones. Panasonic with ambitious goal of 8 percent market share in the first year alone will have tough competition with the likes of Micromax and Karbonn Mobiles. If it wants market share it should launch a mass market phone with good specifications at an affordable price, otherwise it is going to be an uphill task as the Indian smartphone market is highly competitive at this time.
