Microsoft says Office for iPad story is inaccurate

Yesterday there is a report on The Daily about Microsoft Office for iPad, We also published the image accompanying with the story. It turns out that the story is inaccurate according to Microsoft but they are not denying the existence of the app.

The Daily on the other hand says that the image is not fake and it is real, some one from Microsoft demoed them the app. Lot of news is floating around regarding the app but none of it confirms or denies the Office for iPad app.

ZDNet blogger Mary Jo Foley got a comment from Microsoft saying that the “screen shot accompanying The Dailyâ€s story is not a picture of a real Microsoft software product”. “But the spokesperson also said Microsoft is declining to comment as to whether or not the company has developed a version of Office for the iPad and/or when such a product may come to market.” This comment doesnâ€t clear the air. Peter Ha of The Daily also tweeted that the picture is not fake.

Microsoft didn’t deny the report. Microsoft News tweeted “Great respect for The Daily but regrettably someone is giving them bad info, and thatâ€ll be clear in the ‘coming weeksâ€.” This tweet adds to the speculation that app may be real but it may not be coming in few weeks as the story suggested. Or something else is coming in weeks related to Office for iOS.
