Yahoo home page redesign

Yahoo.com home page is got a redesign, although it is not available for public, some users in US, UK, France and India. Later the new home page will be made available to general public. (Screenshot of the new home page)

Yahoo home page redesign

The links in the left sidebar in the current design will be replaced with links to Mail, Stocks, Weather, Movies etc. The redesign will allow users to access other emails apart from Yahoo mail. Initially you can access Yahoo mail, Gmail and AOL mail, later more email provides will be added. They may also add links to other applications to the left sidebar list.

The new design so far looks good with good organization and with out clutter. Access to applications like Gmail would be a good idea to keep users in the yahoo home page.

  11. vam says

Hate the new webpage. If I didn’t like the old one, I wouldn’t use it. Clean–not a lot of cartoons and goofy stuff. I need to access information and I am an adult, not a kid. Don’t play down to me.

Thanks to someone from earlier comments that suggested to clean out all the cookies, etc. and the old one will come back. Yahoo, I hope you’re listening. Let the kids have the new page with all of its cutesyness and save the old page as an option for the rest of us.

  12. Armando says

I Do not like the new Yahoo homepage. Too crowded and too many pastels and such. It looks too cartoonish. I use firefox and had to add a security block. Here is how I did it. Go to Tools>Options>Privacy>Cookies>Exceptions
Type in the link m.www.yahoo.com. Press Block>Close and walla, I got the old home page back. Good luck.

  19. Larry Crouse,Sr. says

I do not like the new design of yahoo. Please return the current design to my computer screen.Thank you.

  20. Linda says

I want to previous (old page) back. Redesign is not what I had anticipated or what I want.

If required by your office, let us have the choice of what new/old page we want instead of you making our choices. Isn’t that what America is about?

So who ever is in charge……please put my old page back, because I don’t have time to go through your garbage and sift out every little detail. Don’t like your redesign.

Someone show me how to put the old design back on.
You people ought to be ashamed. You stated we could switch, however you don’t let us switch.

  21. Patricia Potter says

I dont like the new page at all. The old one was terrific. Why on earth change something that works so well for people?

  22. Elaine says

This is awful!! You did this before Christmas and my computer kept crashing, then wouldn’t come up at all because something was missing so had to take to Comp.shop with “restore disc” for them to fix. You, YAHOO, OWE ME $105 DOLLARS FOR THAT FIX/REPAIR & to get my OLD YAHOO back. Now you did it again. what’s the matter with you?? I didn’t ask for this!!!! Don’t we have choices anymore?? I WANT MY OLD SCREEN BACK, & DON’T MESS MY COMP. UP AGAIN!!!

  23. Roman says

Its obvious no one likes the new yahoo. but The user is right who said just clear your cookies and temporary internet files and history and then type yahoo.com and it goes back to the old one. WHAT REALLY SUCKS ABOUT THE NEW YAHOO HOMEPAGE IS THE EMAIL!!!! why would i want to first see it in a little box and have to keep switching it to full view!!! THAT IS SO INCONVENIENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. Gerald says

Hey yahoo, your new home page that you are force feeding us SUCKS. Wonder how long before you force us to your equally sucky new mail page?

  25. says

this new yahoo sucks! no one like it take a hint we all want the old version back.stop forcing people who pay for what THEY want,to stuff like this that they DONT want!

  26. Ragothaman R. says

Hallo, Please tell me how to get the yahoo mail old home page. I don’t like the new version.

  27. Kandydall says

When you get logged onto Yahoo to get your email if you change it to the old version how do you get back to the new one

  28. says

The mistake yahoo is making here is not notifying the testers of change. You don’t just change the home page. If you truly want this to be tested then ask, and allow access to the home page we are use to. If yahoo has decided to make this change it’s not being handled correctly. At work we have access to the new and old for a period of time. They give us time to adjust. And then incorporate the new in with the old in stages.
The new page did have some good features.
Do not out me name out there only the comments.
    tks

  29. says

Hey you guy’s at yahoo are all right. I love the new yahoo web site. thank you for giving it to us to try. My side has the old way , my wife’s has the new way. I’m using her side now because I like it better than the old one.
Thank you very much for the use of the new site.,Glenn

  30. pneale says

The new layout STINKS! If you don’t change it back, I will go elsewhere. Think about it you dopes. The old Yahoo had tons of info on it. News, sports, feature, etc. Do you have to be a genius to realize this? The new layout is lame, nothing to see. You people are idiots.

  31. Willie M.Burton says

    25 January 2009 2018 CST
The new homepage was installed accidentally and it
awful in more way than one, I lost all my incoming
mail. E-mail directions how to delete and return
to the old page. If this cannot be done, I shall
    find another ISP.

  32. Kellie Metz says

How do we get the old yahoo page back. The new page is hard to find things and inconvient when trying to check email. Please inform me on how to change back to the old page..thanks.

  33. Nicki says

Does yahoo read this? How many people does it take to tell yahoo that the new page is not wanted, does not function the way we need it to. Why does yahoo want to be like Microsoft and change things that work with things that don’t?
Can we please have the old page back.

  34. LOIS says

HEY GUYS, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO TO TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, AND DELETE COOKIE, DELETE TEMPERARY FILES, DELETE HISTORY,AND THEN CLICK ON ANYTHING YOU WANT, AND WHEN YOU CLICK BACK YOU WILL HAVE YOUR OLD PAGE BACK…I DID IT AND IT WORKED FOR ME…HOPE IT WORK FOR YOU GUYS..

  35. says

If you don’t like http://m.www.yahoo.com and want your old page (www.yahoo.com or http://www.myyahoo.com), simply clock the unwanted URL.

In IE, click Tools then Internet Options.
Ensure your home page is set to the desired page e.g., http://www.yahoo.com

Click on the Security Tab then on Restircted Sites.

Click on the [Site] button and then add the unwanted URL to the blank below ‘Add this website to the zone’ (note, if you are already on the unwanted website, http://m.www.yahoo.com will already appear in the blank, if not simply change it).

Click on the [Add] button to restrict the site then click on the [Close] button then [OK] then close your browser.

When you next relaunch your browser, the redirect to m.www.yahoo.com will be restricted and the browser will default to the URL set as your home Page on the general tab.

I have just read your instructions on how to get my email back to original format by which i mean the options at the top,of my emails for previous page, next and so on. Unfortunately having read your instructions I am still none the wiser. Cookies to me are something you eat. Please is there a number I can ring, for help, it is so stressful as I am unemployed and can’t manage this new set up so, loose the chance of jobs, possibly.
It would be nice if you allowed us to decide wether or not we want a new set up.To my generation, I am 55 years old, who were not brought up with computers, it can get confusing. The busier you make a site with adds and chat apps etc on the starter page the less clear it becomes. If you were taught to read and write with books like that you would be illiterate by now. Often less is more and easier to follow.
Please can you allow me to solve this by providing help asap. I certainly agree with Val’s comments.
Regards an unhappy customer, Y Thomas

  36. val says

HATE the new yahoo. Didn’t ask for it….don’t want it. Hope I’m able to reinstall the original which I still have on my desktop. Hey yahoo….don’t test your crap on me anymore…..Windows vista isn’t even compatible with yahoo beta (learned that the hard way!).

  37. Sharon Love says

This new page sucks. Why won’t yahoo answer my emails? I want the user friendly old page back. After homepage mail was my next stop. Now it is a pain in the bu*t. Guess I will switch to google or hotmail. I already have accounts so I will just delete the yahoo account that I have had for almost 20 years. Yahoo you stink. At least answer my emails. Quit hiding

  38. randy says

Please give back the old homepage, original is always the best because it has all the info I need on one page.BRING it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  39. fuerza says

Dude…whoever the reviewer is (funny how he didn’t post him name), “The new design so far looks good with good organization and with out clutter.”

Uncluttered?!?!?! Are you kidding?!?!? It’s all eye-candied up…and distracting!! I despise Yahoo now for using me and many other millions as their test guinea pigs. If you want me to be a tester, you best pay me for my opinion and the fact that I have to deal with this hack of a page!

  40. Phil says

Yahoo did this before to me and now they’re doing it again! Is it not clear enough already that most everyone really dislikes the “new look?” If I have to get used to something new I might as well try out a brand new homepage (google). I’ll have to change my account settings for dozens of websites in order to get mail at a different address, but I don’t care. I’ll just keep the Yahoo account for spam- ha!

i also HATE the ‘new’ design. i prefer the blocking url procedure a more permanent solution so i do not have to delete the cookies from time to time. thanks for that.

  48. Jan says

Look at all the above remarks. Over 90% do not like the new home page. I hope yahoo gets the hint and goes back to the old format–or t least gives us the option to do so. Option to switch or not….this is something yahoo didn’t do when changing home pages. Why just force it on us??

  49. william jones says

Hey man, why didn’t you ask us if we wanted to change the homepage. After all, we use it. I know, a bunch of yahoo folks had a meeting, had bunch of donuts, and came up with this great idea, right? PUT THE OLD PAGE BACK!!!!

  50. william jones says

Oh, I forgot to mention. How do we get the right page again? I don’t see the link. I thought you guys were suppose to be smart!

  53. Joan V. Linville says

  56. Charlene Fakes says

How do I get the OLD Yahoo homepage? I don’t know how this new “crappy” m.yahoo page appeared on my computer this week. I have already cleared off all of my cookies and everything else I can think of plus restarted my computer but it still appears :(

  57. peter rasum says

Wa’appen??? this new page is terrible. Oh, and by the way, thanks for asking if this is ok. Looks like someone pirated and took over my box, while my other box doesn’t have it. I will reluctantly switch to comcast home page… ugh. Change for the sake of change is short sighted and stupid…

  58. CW says

How do I get the old yahoo home page back? I am sorry to say this put the new page sucks and I mean really sucks. It is very confusing. Hey I have an idea why don’t you put a link on the new home page for the old yahoo design so that we your customers can decide which one that we would like to use. I mean you did it before so just do it again. I would hate to use another search engine. Last year when this happen with the email, the public was given a choice. I respected that. What happen to that privilege? Do you not love us anymore?

  59. Denise says

Please give me back my old yahoo page. I really don’t like the new one. Why did yahoo change? Just give it to the people that request it. Give us a choice. Thank you

  60. says

  61. Harry says

I DONT LIKE THE NEW VERSION of yahoo home page I want my page back otherwise I will change it to another company.

  62. Lee says

The new yahoo page sucks. It’s too cluttered and inefficient. I want the old one back. If I wanted MSN I’d use MSN.

  63. Beth says

I hate the new Yahoo Page. Like everyone else said, if so many people hate it, why force it on us? And why ignore our emails stating how inconvenient it is to use and how it messes up our email? We can’t even quickly check to see if we even have any emails, and then we have to click all kinds of things just to get in and check. It’s ridiculous!

  64. Koleen says

I “HATE” the new home page. I want it changed back. If you people can’t leave well enough alone. I will start using Google or MSM for my homepage.

  65. Elaine says

  69. MILLIE says

I’M NOT PLEASED WITH THE NEW HOME PAGE. WANT THE OLD ONE BACK. WHY AND HOW DID IT GET CHANGED?

  70. Sam Spenk says

Whoever wrote this is a yahoo shill. They are trying hard to please the stockholders but read the comments above, they are NOT pleasing their users.

m.yahoo is a piece of junk. I can decide for myself what I want. I do not like targeted content and the same for most people I know. Based on poor algorithms and cannot read my mind (in the 8 languages I know).

Idiot MBA’s (I’m one too so should know how stupid they are.).

  71. Ed Todd says

I hate the new yahoo web home page coming up….stop doing this to us….I swear the next time I am going to make msn my new web page home browser. Leave it the way it was and shot the person who thought the new one was okay

  72. Katie says

Where the heck is the icon on the old page that says take me to the new clutter mess page? Why is it we have to figure out how to get the old back or suck it up? Give the people what they want, leave the old, advertise the new and let them decide if they want it (and if they do, they click on the clutter mess icon and get it). Wouldn’t we all be happy that way. Why frustrate the people? I am on the verge of saying poop on this and using a different site! Several months ago it changed to the new, a couple of months ago, and again now. I have two home computers and a work computer…guess what my home page is. Not for long if Yahoo keeps up this crap. (thanks for letting me vent).

  73. Megan says

Leave my stuff ALONE!!! I flipping HATE yahoo changing my page. I like my old one and everytime it takes me days to figure out how to put it back. How about you get smart and ask someone if they want to sample your ugly changes. I am going to switch and be done with it because I am tired of fighting you about changing my page. This is about the fourth time – I like my original leave it alone.

  74. yo says

I WANT MY OLD PAGE BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE; IF I DO NOT GET IT BACK VERY SHORTLY, I AM GOING TO CHANGE SEARCH ENGINES TO SOMETHING THAT IS NOT “POWERED” BY GOOGLE, AND GETTING OFF OF ANYTHING RELATED TO YAHOO OR GOOGLE. YOU HAVE REALLY HACKED ME OFF. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I’VE HAD TO SEND A MESSAGE TO GET MY OLD PAGE BACK; MAYBE YOU SHOULD ASK IF I WANT IT CHANGED BEFORE YOU JUST GO AND DO IT. YOU REALLY DON’T KNOW HOW ANGRY I AM ABOUT THIS.

  76. russell says

YOU HAVE REALLY PISSED ME OFF. MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED IF I WANTED IT CHANGED BEFORE YOU JUST GO AND DO IT. YOU REALLY DON’T KNOW HOW PISSED I AM ABOUT THIS AND JUDGING BY THE OTHER COMMENT’S YOU ARE LOOKING AT LOOSING ALOT OF PEOPLE IF YOU DON’T GIVE US THE CHOICE OF WHAT HOME PAGE WE WANT
I WILL BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER HOME PAGE IF YOU DON’T LET ME CHANGE MINE BACK.
    THANK YOU

  77. Scott says

I guess I should feel lucky since these posts have been going on since September of last year. Mine just switched today, without warning. I, like nearly every post on this site do not like the new page, and won’t use the new page. I have never been a google user, but I’m about to learn!!!
Reminds me of another great idea……New Coke!
    Not Good!

  78. Upset user says

I want my page returned to the original screen.
I also will be looking into Goggle MSN or anything other than Yahoo. Do not change anything with asking me first. Do not have time for your changes.

  79. Marc says

Yes it truly sucks and I can’t get rid of it except to change to a non yahoo homepage which I did.

With crap like this it’s no wonder Yahoo is being tun by Yahooligans

  80. Faith says

YIPPEE!! I got my old page back!

I was extremely upset that Yahoo changed my homepage without telling me and I hate it. I was ready to find a different homepage, email, search engine, etc. I cleaned out all my cookies and history and all that but it didn’t help. I finally ran across Bob’s post on Feb. 1st. I tried that and it worked.

    Thanks a million Bob!

  81. says

I DONT LIKE THE NEW FRONT PAGE IT ALMOST RUINED MY LAPTOP .I LOST ALL OF MY DATA AND HAD TO REBOOT THE HOLE THING .SOME THING IS WRONG WITH IT!

  82. Tess says

Leave well enough alone for crying out loud. Everytime Yahoo (or any other site for that matter) comes out with a new ‘home’ page, it’s usually loaded with a multitude of advertising that pops up and takes over the screen simply by grazing it with your mouse…Usually unitentionally. Hate to be a ‘hater’, but hate, hate, hate all the unsolicited advertising.

  83. Marcia Hubbard says

I have wasted over an hour trying the tips for getting my old Yahoo home page back, including deleting old cookies, etc. but so far without success. PLEASE change this back!

  85. ray kelly says

new page sucks give the old one back or i go else where and shot the guy who come up with the new one

  86. Upset says

Yahoo is really sucking right now! This was an AWFUL idea and the old Yahoo is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better!!!!!!!!! I think Yahoo will lose thousands of customers if they do not change their web page back to the old one. I knew i was very dissappointed! If you go to tools, internet options, make sure your homepage is yahoo.com, press delete, and delete your files, history, and cookies, your new homepage will be back. I hope everyone sees this so they can switch back to the old yahoo page that everyone loved

  87. Mik says

You all need to grow up the new page is not that much diffrent from the old page i like the new page and hope they change it for good….

  88. Brenda says

i do not want this purple home page so please change it back or tell me how to do it ASAP>
    brenda O’Neal

  89. Randy says

This new homepage sucks. It takes longer to get to my mail, weather and everything else. The searches don’t come up with anything like the old homepage does.

  90. Isaac says

I hate this new crap it SUCKS! I hate how that stupid giant box opens up when I go to the side bar thats STUPID and annoying!

  91. Jeff says

    I concur with people who:

    1. Do not like the new web page
    2. Do not appreciate having it thrust upon them.

If you want to change the format, leave it as option for the user. Also let them change it back if they do not like the new format.

  92. Robert Jensen says

I do not like the new style Yahoo home page! How do I get back to the old style home page?

  93. Secily D. Jones says

  94. Frank says

I was able to get my old yahoo back. I went into tools and clicked on delete browsing history and cleared tempory internet files, cookies, history and cleared everything. 96. Britaney says

to change it back just scroll all the way down then,
it says go back to yahoo classic then u click it!
    thats it!

    • tigerman says

There is no link at the bottom of the new yahoo page that says back to yahoo classic, I looked 10 times its not there.

  97. joseph says

the new yahoo home page is the worst page I have ever seen. If I don’t get back my old page I am switching to Google

  98. joseph says

I just figured out what to do, go to the bottom right of the yahoo home page and press the “return to the old page” unless you want to stay with the current one

  99. me says

    @Britaney
Thank you for telling us how to get the old page back. I was going nuts looking for a link on the top part of the page since the link to “peek” (yeah right) at the new Yahoo was at the top.

The new page is annoying! Don’t change something just for the sake of changing it. If anything, give the users a choice which style they want to use.

    Dump the New Design!!!

  101. Kenny says

hey guys I FOUND AN EASY WAY TO SWITCH BACK TO THE OLD YAHOO PAGE if you go down to the bottom of the new yahoo page and there is a whole bunch of information in fine print….go to the section that says about yahoo in the bottom right hand corner and immediately under it you will find a tab that says switch back to old yahoo page…plain, simple, and easy!

  102. Denver Hembree II says

This new home page sucks and is not user friendly at all. I want my old home page back.

  103. phil says

What is this??? Obama has taken over this country,& SCREWED it up. WE had not Choice,,, NOW I have lost my home page. OBAMA has got his hands on yahoo. AND SCREWED it UP ALSO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  104. AdB1956 says

To get the old page back, scroll all the way down to the bottom. There should be a link saying “return to classic yahoo.com”. Easy

What I cannot believe is how, in an age where the trend is for WIDE SCREENS, Yahoo seems fit to introduce a design that stretches VERTICALLY! I can now see less information than before. Furthermore, the option “compact view” makes it NARROWER! Like how many people still use an 800×600 screen?!?

  105. MARK says

this new home page is nice kind of like stepping in a fresh pile of s#*t it is very unplesant but once I it all off my shoe and go to google I’ll be ok thanks for the lingering smell!!

  106. BOB MILLROY says

I cannot believe i had to scroll down for this. knock it off assholes and stop trying to re-invent the wheel. it ain’t broke so don’t try to fix it. go get the boss another cup of coffee and just do your job. now i have to find another homepage that keeps most of us satisfied.

  107. toesymoesy says

thanks, Bob for the tip. I tried clearing the cache, cookies and still it brought me back to the new site. the tip on the Securities tab restricting the yahoo page with the letter ‘m’ finally did the job of bringing back the old yahoo page. thanks again!

  108. rebecca says

i was not aware of yahoo being responsible for home page change and when i called them for tech support they wanted to charge me for the info, maybe that is why they do this without notice to their customers….so they called tech support and charge them, brings in extra revenue

  109. Dave says

To get the classic yahoo page back scroll down to the bottom of the new page on the bottom right side of the page click the classic yahoo link and there you go old school yahoo

  110. len says

Ohhh, thanks for the help, I couldnt find the link. I hate the new image of yahoo. I do not need any of their own “favourites”….I have my own, saved on my pc. Also, I had Yahoo (classic) set as my homepage and it automaticly switched itself to the new one. Thanks again. I am saved!

  111. Ari says

I KNOW HOW TO GET IT BACK!!!!!!!!!! U have to delete ALL your history (by doing that you go to tools then delete browsing history and click delete all at the bottem) Including cookies, passwords, eveything. then close your page and open the internet again

  112. Debbie says

I hate the new look. Please bring back the old home page. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. You should at least give us a choice.

  113. ALMA says

I WANT THE OLD YAHOO HOMEPAGE BACK OR ILL CHANGE IT TO SOMETHING ELSE I DONT LIKE IT AND WONT USE IT I LIKED THE OLD HOME PAGE

  114. Swizzle says

The new YAHOO Home Page ia awful. If it is not changed to the old look, I will not use YAHOO again.

  115. Sabrina says

I had the same problem, go to the bottom of the page and on the bottom right is a link under the title “About Yahoo”, click on return to classic yahoo.com and it fixes it.

  116. bill says

i hate the new page also. i saw the responses of cleaning out your cookies and history, but wasn’t sure how because i’m a fairly new mac owner. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GO TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR YAHOO PAGE AND ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER THERE IS AN OPTION TO RETURN TO THE OLD YAHOO! HORRAY. :] there is a choice.

  117. Sol says

I like it! sorry for all the hate, I guess people dont like evolving pages. Nothing is perfect they are just used to the layout, but dont get the benefits of a faster better search engine? I like the layout, specially that Its very user friendly…its like screaming at the world I like to write my letters instead of emailing them!! cuz I like ink!!Well…good luck!

  118. Curtis says

Was this change just to justify somebody’s job. What a waste of time. Would have been better off just letting people modify their own home page more on the old yahoo. After years of using yahoo I think it’s time to switch.

  119. john ganas says

after seeing all the comments above i thank alot of people really do not like your changes
where just the ones who use your product at YAHOO!
sometimes as The Ford Motor company did you come up with an Edsel!

Hey at the bottom of the new home page which we all hate was a tab that said return to old home page, I clicked it and I got the old home page back!!It took me over a week of messing with this new page to even see the little blue words on the right bottom of their new home page.

  124. Becky says

i dont like the new yahoo page please help me get the old one back… the new one is confusing….

  125. andi says

just look at the bottom of the new yahoo page and under “about yahoo”, it will have a link to the old one! :D

  126. Diane says

There is a link in the bottom right hand corner under “about yahoo” linking back to the old yahoo cite. It worked for me, so hopefully it works for some of you

  127. Mary Billups says

This “new” YAHOO is really hard to see for the older folk who use YAHOO. The older version had everything in larger type……..this “new” YAHOO has type so small it’s actually going to cause some to “take their business elsewhere”!!

Please change YAHOO back to larger print – it’s easier to read.

  128. happy_golfer says

I don’t like it either…but very easy to change…there is a button at the bottom right corner that says go back to original yahoo page.

  129. KBH says

Directions for the old yahoo. On the new yahoo homepage, scroll down and you will see about yahoo in the right hand corner. You will see return to classic yahoo…click on that your you are back to the classic one.

  130. Rafael A Segura says

Thanks Bob I followed your instructions on how to get my old yahoo page back and guess what? It’s good to be home.

    Thanks Again Tonio42

  131. Rafael A Segura says

I understand your need to renew your designs in order to remain competive. In the future I think You should ask your subcriber’s opinions before you change things (as a courtesy of course) after all we are the ones that chose you. You might consider this– If it works,Leave it Alone!!

    Thanks. Tonio42

  132. Pete says

I do not want the newly designed home page. If I have to I’ll go to some other home page. Tried to get the old one back and had no luck please HELP!!!

  133. Dan says

To change back to the old one, delete cookies and cache on your browser and then type yahoo.com in and you get the old one back!

  134. linlin says

READ THIS: follow these intructions and get on with your lives. a million thanks again to Bob. i copied and pasted his method. this was the only method that worked for me…(clearing cache did not work)

    FROM BOB:

If you don’t like http://m.www.yahoo.com and want your old page (www.yahoo.com or , simply Block the unwanted URL.

In IE, click Tools then Internet Options.
Ensure your home page is set to the desired page e.g., http://www.yahoo.com

Click on the Security Tab then on Restricted Sites.

    GOOD LUCK!

  135. VJ says

FEW WAYS TO RESTORE CLASSIC YAHOO HOME-PAGE

Method 1. Click on the link “Return to Classic Yahoo.com” at the bottom right corner of the new Yahoo homepage.

Method 2. Manually set as your homepage (in Tools -> Internet Options). This way, you may not have to do anything else, until yahoo gets rid of the Classic.

Method 3. Clear the Cookies (or Browsing History) in your internet browser program. (Technically, you only need to remove any cookies from yahoo.com, if you know how to do that). Remember that deleting Cookies will require you to re-login to websites that previously “remembered” your username & password. Advanced users may just block the cookies from m.www.yahoo.com

  136. m yokawonis says

I want the old yahoo page I don’t like the way the new one is designed AT ALL.

I don’t lke this yahoo homepage. Would someone please help me get back my old one. This sucks!!!!

  143. Bukket5 says

You don’t have to delete anything to get the old page back. There is a link to return to the Classic Yahoo on the bottom, right hand side.

  144. good03wrench says

way to go Bukket5 it is simple as that. I cannot believe everyone who said you cannot change back no matter what you do.. I agree the new one sucks.

  145. good03wrench says

there is a link on the bottome right side of the new page where you can change it back

  146. Lucinda says

I do NOT like the new home page! Yahoo should have given users a choice instead of forcing the change on us! I am seriously considering dropping Yahoo and going with MSN instead!

  147. Mark says

These messages are all fake. Does everyone really use the words “sucks” and “give back my old one” in every single post?

  148. c.a.wiley says

NO NO NO YOU DON’T. I DON’T WANT THE NEW DESIGN. I DON’T LIKE IT. I WANT MY CLASSIC BACK AND SO DOES EVERYBODY ELSE. IF WE HAD WANTED IT CHANGED WE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU. THIS IS INTERNET TYRANNY AND IT IS INEXCUSABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE. AS THE SOPRANOS SAY, ‘FORGET YOU’.NO NO NO YOU DON’T. I WILL DUMP YAHOO, I REALLY WILL.

  149. Karen says

I’m not going to wait too long for the option to return to the “classic” Yahoo! home page. If it doesn’t come soon, I will go elsewhere and NEVER return. This is awful. And yes, people still say “it sucks” and “give me back my old one” – even in this ultra-modern, crassly sophisticated, ultra-designed, often stupid world in which we find ourselves. Even today, the truth can still hurt. Nice try, Yahoo, but you’ve turned yourselves into a bunch of wanna-be googlers! Knock it off and get back to the business of satisfying your loyal customers!

  150. star says

i want my old yahoo homepage the new one i dont want old is much nicer beacause i see all at once

  151. linda baird says

I am hoping that you can help me with my one question. How do I get my old yahoo home page back. I hate change, and I liked my old yahoo home page. linda

  152. Jason says

I don’t like the new page either. The worst part is the lack of inactive spaces on the page. I like to scroll with my arrow keys (laptop with no mouse) and it’s a pain to find a spot that you can use to click out of the text box to enable arrow key scrolling without activating a video or link.

    Bring back the old page!

  153. Jason says

By the way, use the Send Feedback link on the bottom of the new Yahoo! page to let the company know what you think.

  154. sally says

If you don’t return me to the old yahoo homepage then I’m going to google homepage. I hate this new one!! I want my old one back thank you very much!!

  155. Jean says

Seriously! Hate the new Yahoo page. PLEASE give me the old one back. Baaaaad customer service. This should be optional instead of just switching everyone over.

  156. Dana Ross Beardsley says

Go to the bottom of the new yahoo page and on the right hand side it say return to classic yahoo page

  157. sue little says

  161. margaret harris says

Wish you’d ask if I want the new design first. I flatly do not like the new home page. Those that like can keep it, but how about letting those of us that want the old page have it back!

  162. Kev says

I really do not appreciate being FORCED to accept a new home page from Yahoo! It’s very rude to push this change with no choice being offered to the user.

    Poor planning, Yahoo!

I plan to look for another provider, perhaps gmail.

You have 24 hour to change me back -

  163. ahabdearab says

Does anyone know if there is another site besides Yahoo that has a similar setup to the old Yahoo? I dislike the new Yahoo and if I have to change I want other options.

  164. Demon of Da South says

Update: Now there is a link at the bottom of the page that reads “back to yahoo classic”, thats it.

  167. Ray W says

    Hiya all
Don’t like the new look Yahoo, well that’s tough, they’ve even closed the link that allowed you to change back…that’s democracy folks and just for the record..I think it’s shite also.
    Ray

  168. oel Woods says

I really resent having this new homepage without even being asked. Change it back PDQ or I & others will go back to MSN or something else.

  169. bruce winder says

I also hate this new homepage, my computer has crashed many times since I have been forced to use this page. So I am looking for a differenat homepage, probably Google.

  170. Matt says

I hate this new site. Don’t even get the option of having the classic version. Think it’s time to set my homepage to MSN.

  171. Shirley says

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE AT YAHOO!!! Everyone hates this new home page – don’t they listen to people – it is maddening – if they can’t do any better than this – they need to hire new people who can! I, like most of the people leaving comments, am ready to leave Yahoo for good – they obviously do not care what we think!!!!

  172. JT says

What a load of shit! “If it aint broke…” I’ll certainly be looking for an alternative home page if this site sticks around.

  173. Bob says

You can go to either the Italian or the German Yahoo sites. these look more like the original Yahoo page, if ya don’t mind reading the different languages. Course, this is only in english if yer email is such. Everything else is in the language of the page:

    http://de.yahoo.com/
    http://it.yahoo.com/

I think Europe is much more regular about keeping things funtional and consistant.

  174. techmaster400 says

all you have to do is delete your temporary internet files and cookies by pressing control shit delte

  175. Tom Barber says

I absolutely hate the new home page and the way it is pushed on me. If I say no to it once, then I should not have to say no every time I log onto the homepage.

Fire the knuckleheads that came up with this brilliant idea. They truely are losing you customers.

I for one will be moving to aol which is where I came from if this new design is kept.

  176. peedoff says

Yahoo won’t change back, they’ve already disabled the link to the old page. This is just what Virgin media did – changed the homepage and totally ignored the ensuing outcry. These companies are all the same, they don’t give a damn about their customers. Their attitude is ‘wait until they get fed up complaining and then they’ll just accept it.’

  177. dee says

Hate the new yahoo set up…..I don’t like it…..I don’t want it so there.. It’s not even user friendly. It just turn up when you don’t want to be bother….YUK!!!!!!!1

locate anythingl. send me instruyctions as to hot to get this piece of shit out of my computer.

  179. Milly says

I also hated the new yahoo homepage. Managed to get back to classic yahoo, but now there is a constant banner at the top saying ‘This page is closing, click here to be re-directed’

Thoght someone had the right idea though, I’ll be keeping yahoo for competition entries, insurance queries & other things likely to generate spam & be going elsewhere for ‘real’ e-mails & a good homepage.

  180. wade says

new yahoo page sucks. think it time to change to google or someother home page if they won’t let us go back to yahoo old home page

  181. YahooSucks says

For now we can still get access to the old page here:

Who knows what will happen when they get rid of classic mail or the classic homepage, I’ll just never use them I’m sure.

  182. KB says

    GOOD NEWS.

Look at the bottom of the page on the New Yahoo front page. There is a link that says “Rturn to Class Yahoo.com”

  184. Jimmy says

F yahoo and their new page! I’ll use something else. F deleting cookies, F the new layout, F this whole damn process of trying to fix it back.

  185. says

We have tried to change back to classic yahoo several times. Now we are forced to have New yahoo. When we go to the bottom of the page and click on return to yahoo classic, we encounter “We’ve encountered a problem…
Please return to the Yahoo! homepage and try again” After doing this repeatedly over several days, we are sure that this “option” is a farce for the paying users like us. Thank you yahoo for asking us to try it. We did and we absolute hate it, hate it. Now we are stuck with it without even having a choice. Oh, sorry , we do have a choice. It’s “Google” homepage. Thank you for making up our minds for us. Gates strikes again!

  186. kathyb says

I too hate the new yahoo page. Classic yahoo is the one I like. I think I will change my homepage to something else if they force us to have the new yahoo. The new yahoo page is so damn irritating.

  187. anonymous says

Gaahh… The new Yahoo page makes me sick!
And now, it’s officially going to change on Nov. 11! Hurray! Or not… Seriously!!! They should leave the old one alone! Nobody likes it anyways. I bet the people at Yahoo are smirking while saying, “Say bye-bye to the old Yahoo!”

Yahoo! Now, I’m gonna have to get used to Google… I really am going to say ‘bye-bye’ to Yahoo if they’re going to keep this up!

Forget trying to get the old page back! I’m just going to get a new homepage where they LISTEN TO PEOPLE’S OPINIONS unlike *cough* YAHOO *cough*

It’s just sad that I’m going to have to change it. I’ve been using Yahoo as my search engine/home page EVER SINCE I COULD GET ON THE INTERNET. So, so sad.

So Yahoo wants to change right? Then I’m going to change my homepage!

To summarize it all in five words, THE NEW YAHOO HOMEPAGE SUCKS.

There, and I’m done. (I feel better now that I’ve said this much).

  188. sixtoes says

looks like crap why can’t they have both to pick from if it does change i guess i will have to go to lycos
it is somewhat like the old yahoo

  189. Luster Howes says

Hey yayhoo your about to loose your users im going too if you dont quit changeing my page your new ver. uses too much memory for all that glitz and glamore b.s.it slows it down besides who asked you to mess with it.will you ever learn thats the problem nowdays people are never satisfied with what they got sometimes older is better, sometimes what you got is what you want (if it isnt broke dont fix it) there was nothing wrong with the way it was. if things arent difficult enought.this is as bad as you idea of intergreated antivirus sorry norton but your uninstallers are junk

  190. doreen walters says

Please do not take my original home page away. If I choose to switch over to the New page it should be by my choice. I do not like it, I have tried it, and keep going back to old page. Do not switch me over. You WILL lose a customer. Thank-you

  191. roxan says

I HATE the new Yahoo home page and it will be permanent November 11. Why don’t companies ever listen to people and instead insist on moving forward with things that suck. Look what happened to Windows Vista!!! I’m going elsewhere for news and information. Goodbye Yahoo.

  192. Brian says

I hate this new home page and they are gonna FORCE us to use it. See you later yahoo, I am getting a divorce.

  193. T says

I hate the new yahoo page. On a suggestion, I switch to Google’s and within a couple of days, I love using Google as my home page. Thanks Yahoo! for making me change!

  195. Olga says

I HAAAAATTTEEEE the NEW HOMEPAGE and as soon as they make it permanent on Nov, 11, 2009. I am switching to something else – maybe MSN because I HATE that they are insisting on shoving this PURPLE UGLY MISCREAION down our throats, Why can’t they just leave the design alone – new is not always better. What they should have done perhaps tweek it a little but leave the basic design and colors alone. Just looking at the PURPLE COLOR make s me want to VOMIT. I don’t know which moron thought this one up. He/she needs to be fired now! And if Yahoo stock was low – well it will go even lower because lot of people will leave the PURPLE MONSTROSITY on Nov, 11th. I know I will.

  196. karen says

I Hate that new homepage as i still dont like new one. i like orginal yahoo homepage didnt confuse me. my boyfriend did same thing. SEE. Ill switch back old one not new one. Sorry about that.

  197. says

    “Is Yahoo losing the battle?”

    Terrible new homepage!

For many, MANY years I have loved Yahoo for it’s nice/clean look and ease of use.
With this new page, I have a hard time finding the most used things and/or they’re placed in spots where you have to scroll down to.
Take for example the weather, events, etc…
It was nice at top and now have to find it somewhere at the bottom!
Why does Yahoo change it so much? Why change something that’s already good and works?
Being 1 of the 3 major SE’s, Yahoo is the only one with news, etc on the page. So instead of changing the look (again!!), making it worse and worse, why not focus on the engine itself and impress us with that?

On Nov. 11 I will change my SE to another one. Many ppl I know and also (were/are) ‘fans’ of Yahoo, agree with me and also are going to change.

    Yahoo,
If you are reading the many posts on many! forums/blogs/etc.. on how ppl dislike the new homepage, there’s only 1 thing I have to say:
You’re loosing users and therefore are slowly loosing the battle against Google and Bing…

    Really disappointed!

  198. john says

read your own e mail Ido not like the new web page part of america s start was freedom of choice be an american give people a choice just because a few like the new page that does not apply to everyone GIVE PEOPLE A CHOICE

  199. Jeff says

Tapan Bhat stated that users are spending more time on the homepage ever since the redesign? That’s because users like myself can’t figure out how to turn off all the popups. Tapan Bhat seems to believe mouse over POPUPS are cool and new. I don’t like them on the new page and it’s a distraction to view popup’s. “Yahoo = Popups”.

  200. meme says

I really dislike the new page .when you have something good just leave it alone I want my old yahoo page back.
We should be able to keep what we want and change if we want

  201. Kev says

Have you guys tried the new tabbed email browser? You can have a chat session on one tab and browse email on another…. totally kewl.

  202. Jimmy says

YAY! The new Yahoo page became permanent today! Now you are unable to clear the cookies and refresh the page, or click “switch to classic view” on the bottom to change it back like before. Now you are stuck with the disorganized and annoying pop-up menu mess that is the new Yahoo. YAY!

(With heavy sarcasm for those of you who like the new Yahoo, aka idiots)

  203. los says

its out right horrible. I am moving all my account info to google. As soon as the my fantasy football season is over I will be completely done with yahoo.

  204. says

why is it we cannot go with our choice? the yahoo is looking for less of us to respond and more of us to capitulate. One must remember when a leader changes direction many may follow aimlessly, but when one falls many will also. Is this the new coke syndrome again?

  205. jon says

ahhh I hate the new page. I move the mouse out of the way to read and something pops up. Time for me to move on from yahoo.

  206. phil says

  208. someone says

Okay. I’ve tried just about everything and I’m still stuck with the horrible new home page. This sucks.

  209. dan kapalko says

PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD YAHOO HOME PAGE AS I AND MANY PEOPLE DISLIKE THE NEW ONE FOR MANY DIFFERENT REASONS.YOU HAD A GOOD THING GOING AND DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IT.I’M NEW TO COMPUTERS AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WHEN I LOST THE OLD ONE

  210. says

I’m moving to http://www.msn.com... I do not like the new format and wish they had left us the option of selecting the new page. The Yahoo employees are more interested in their morning ‘Mocha’ at Starbucks than they are with what anyone thinks about the new page. They exisist in their own little bubble-world and really don’t care about anything outside of it.

  211. Bill Chapin says

Why phuque with something that everyone likes. I have three home pages, Google, Yahoo and Bing. If I can’t get my old Yahoo page back I’ll only have two. I’m old enough to know that cars should have v-8’s and fins. Don’t mess with perfection.

  212. lloyd says

this new page stinks how can i get rid of it now please im so sick of things changing or do you have 10000 dollars in credit card debt phone calls about how they can help quit giving out info and changing are pages we didnt ask you too

  213. Mcik says

I will be switching if we can’t change back. I’ve been using yahoo as my homepage for almost ten years, but I can’t use this new yahoo page. I will have to switch to MSN. They will be losing tons of customers.

  214. Ron says

Yes, I agree— Let’s keep the demands / boycott up until they LISTEN to the feedback. Boycott says it the loudest——

  215. Project says

  218. John Matthews says

I HATE the new yahoo homepage. Bring back the old one! Google’s looking better every day.

  219. says

I too hate the new design of the yahoo! main page. The mouse over popups are are REALLY annoying! And I have to make too many clicks to get to my email now. I have been using yahoo mail for a very long time. I’m not ready to leave yet, but getting close.

Please, go back to the old page. Or at lease turn off the darn popups.

  220. says

HATE the new version – lost the stationery I used the most – not available now. Who is Liam, anyway? Who wants cartoons – that’s kids’ stuff.

Old retired lady here who is a newbie at computer useage – don’t understand all this talk about internet connections, internet options deleting cookies, clearing cache, etc. Would not know how to do this. Afraid of messing up my new toy then spending a fortune to have it fixed.

  221. myself the irritates yahoo user says

I’m really unhappy with the new yahoo m yahoo pages, the pop out ads which block the whole page. I go there for ymail or search engine and have no desire or need for the other stuff ( rubbish celebrity news etc).
Y not give give the public what they want ? ? Stop patranizing the adult population of the internet ..

  222. Jaames Paul Cleveland says

What ever happened to the saying ” If it at brole don’t fix it.” This New Yahoo Sucks.!!!!!!!

  223. Earlene says

I want my old yahoo home page back. I had all my links on it for things I do. Weather set up where I want it, ETC. HELP…..

  224. Mike Hildreth says

I definately do NOT like the new scrolling “Today” frames. It just started by itself, and could’nt find a setting to stop it, just that stupid little pause button. Users should have a lot more control and ease of use over what we watch, and over our home page settings.

  225. Earlene says

So, have you moderated yet? I need help to get my original homepage back with all my good helps on it. PLEASE…..

  226. chris goode says

  227. Mary Ann says

  229. sam says

change my page back to what it was. don’t change it on your own. stop doing your choices with out there being a place where i can on my own to go back to what i had. this is the second time. were ready to change if this isn’t corrected. this angars us when i can’t read my news as usual.

  230. Marcia says

What part of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” do the idiot programmers at Yahoo not understand? The new home page stinks! Return it to its former usability and design! I am very disappointed, to put it mildly.

  231. Denise says

igoogle will be done in August of this year so that one is out…MSN is now my next option, I do not like the new homepage and cannot read it I looked forward to my news everyday and whammo none today or will be on another page. I have been with yahoo for more years than I can count to bad as I should have had a choice. I cannot even find a way to change back to the old way and did the cookie restart my computer thing to. If I wanted a facebook look or whatever I would go there????

  232. Joryworks says

I want my old homepage back!!! This magnitude of change is beyond both arrogance, and ignorance! A good design team would recognize the values of very subtle graphics changes interwoven with greater background code efficiencies… This is mass market media being designed by clueless pre-schoolers. Sorry, I’m sometimes a bit direct.

  233. Ronavish says

Go to http://www.yahoo.ca,it is in Canada BUT,it is the old yahoo style homepage and at the top of it ,it will let you switch between United States or Canada, hope this helps everyone.I’m using yahoo.ca now and it works beautifully. P.S. You can still check your email through the Canadian yahoo homepage.

  234. frostyrated says

i just hate the new version & why can’t yahoo let us choose if we want to switch or stay w/new yahoo mail? i prefer the old yahoo as it’s very easy to the eyes etc. i’ve been using the old one for years & i can’t u’stand why they hv to modify it & it’s horrible!

Some people didn’t like it so much and preferred old Yahoo home page over the new one, switching to old Yahoo home page is not so difficult either. At Yahoo’s annual analyst day, senior vice president Tapan Bhat had an update on Yahoo home page redesign. After the redesign of the Yahoo home page, page views increased 9% and the time spent by users on the page increased 20%. The reason for this increase seems to be the ability to add applications to the home page from around the web. [...]
